Program Plan

MMSM developed a draft program plan that was submitted to the Minister of Conservation on June 22, 2009. This Program Plan was approved by the minister on September 24th, 2009. The Program Plan:

• sets out the key components of industry’s plan to collect waste packaging material and printed paper from households across Manitoba and divert it from landfill;
• defines a funding formula that will be used to calculate industry payments (stewardship fees) as well as outline funding provisions to support market research, public education, and promote material reduction and recycling;
• explains the method industry stewards will use to calculate and report the total generation and recovery of designated materials.

Consultations

• MMSM held industry consultations June 4 on its proposed plan for the Packaging and Printed Paper Stewardship Program. • Public review of the new stewardship program plan took place over the summer 2009.

Program Implementation
